About Tradition and the Golf Course...

Riverbend Country Club is a traditional, private, full service Members Owned Country Club located in the heart of Sugar Land just 25 minutes south of downtown Houston, Texas. Established in 1957, Riverbend Country Club has provided recreation, fun and camaraderie for our Members and Guests in a truly private environment.

Amenities
- Club amenities include 18 holes of Championship golf, an exceptional practice facility featuring 10 covered hitting bays providing the option to “practice in the shade”, PGA teaching professionals, fine and casual dining, recently renovated tennis courts and swimming pools, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and one of the most exquisite locker room facilities in Houston!! The Club is committed to maintaining a beautiful golf course, exceptional amenities, friendly personalized service, and a tradition of Membership by Invitation.
Course History
- The golf course was originally designed by Press Maxwell Jr. in 1957. Maxwell has designed a number of notable courses including Prairie Dunes Country Club in Kansas with his father Perry Maxwell and Pecan Valley Golf Club in San Antonio which hosted the 50th PGA Championship. In 2010 notable golf course architect Jeff Blume added his touches during a $1.4 million dollar renovation. Mr. Blume’s additions to the course included additional bunkers and rolling fairways as well as completely redesigning several greens complexes and installing Bermuda Mini-Verde to insure consistent and speedy average greens speeds. These improvements only added to the already impeccable reputation of being one of Houston’s most aesthetically pleasing and challenging but fair test to all comers. More recently in 2019, Mr. Blume would return converting the conventional bunkers on the course to much improved “Billy Bunkers.” These new bunkers offer superior playability and an even more impressive upgrade aesthetically to our beautiful course. They are a member favorite for sure!!
  
  Ben Hogan actually held the course record which he established in 1965 when he shot a 65. He started on the then back 9 with a 33 (4 birdies and 1 bogey) He then came home in 32 on the front 9 (4 birdies and 0 bogeys) He played the back 9 with then Club Professional Jack Smith, and the front 9 with the then President and Vice President of Imperial Sugar. Today our course record is held by current member Ryan Baca. He shot a 61 in August of 2019. His round included highlights of 12 birdies and only 1 bogey.

- Our dedicated Professional Staff is here to help you improve your game. We can help you with any aspect and start you on the path towards playing your best golf. Member and non-member lessons are available Tuesday through Sunday.
