The golf course was originally designed by Press Maxwell Jr. in 1957.  Maxwell has designed a number of notable courses including co-designing Prairie Dunes Country Club in Kansas with his father Perry Maxwell.  Prairie Dunes had the distinction of hosting the 2006 Senior PGA Championship.  Maxwell also designed Pecan Valley Golf Club in San Antonio which hosted the 50th PGA Championship.

Members appreciate the tree lined fairways and gently rolling terrain of Maxwell's traditional park style layout.  With a number of well bunkered greens and water coming into play on 13 holes Riverbend is a formidable challenge to golfers of all abilities.

Over the years, Riverbend has had the distinction and honor of hosting several USGA events.  Another little known fact is that Ben Hogan once held the course record at the Club.

The Importance of Trees
Set among 50 year old pecan and live oak trees, the golf course plays from four sets of tee boxes. The course has water on 14 holes and we maintain our greens at medium to faster speeds.  Many mature trees line the fairways, and we continue to enhance the course every year with a yearly budget of $9,000 designated specifically for new trees.
